37 weeks – FULL TERM!
37 weeks today – the offical full-term mark!!! How it happened, and how it got here so soon I still cannot believe. Seems like only yesterday that I was holding that first positive pregnancy test. Well, maybe not really… but one thing is still for sure – time FLEW!
While I am still hoping that this baby doesn’t check out for a few more weeks still, it is still incredible to know that even if it happened today, the baby would no longer be considered premature – we’re officially full term!
We had an appointment today – its down to every week now, and everything measured right on target (knock on wood!!). Measurements were 37cm on the dot (for 37 weeks). Baby was head down but not descended yet, and estimated to be 6 and a half pounds or so, which she said is a great starting point. Heart beat, blood pressure, etc were all normal, and my strep and anemia tests came back negative as well. Best of all I feel great – its amazing that it feels so much easier now at 9 months, than it did at 9 weeks! Who would have thought. I’m perfectly happy to have the little one take as long as it needs.
We handed in our birth plan today - the form we were given to fill out for our preferences. Do I have preferences? Sure! But most of all, I want to try to remain real flexible – I know it can go one of a hundred ways and ultimately all I care about is the end result. I don’t want to feel down if it doesn’t go “as planned”.
We’re gradually getting there with preparations. Can’t say we’re there quite yet though. But one thing is for sure – the baby is officially READY!!!!
